Six13 with P-A-S-S-O-V-E-R

Acapella albums fall into three categories: Chasidish, Yeshivish, and Modern. Of the three, the only groups to do music videos are the modern. Hence, apologies to the blog readers who don't care for that kind of music. I happen to like it, and the videos are fun. During sefirah I will be posting mostly these kinds of videos.

This video was put together by Six13. You'll especially enjoy it if you like secular music parodies, and if you're among those who complain about the lack of women in videoes. Yes, it's after Pesach so we're a little late, but hey, it's acappella.

ENJOY.

Acapella: Maccabeats, "Good Life"

With Sefirah upon us, time to post as many acapella videos as I can find - and there are plenty, especially new ones. I will try to post as often as possible... Sorry for the lapse in time.

Here are the Maccabeats with "Good Life".

Raise your Glass by the Maccabeats

I really wanted to save this clip for Sefirah, when there will be very little in the way of acapella, but it's more befitting for Purim. So here we go: Raise your Glass by the Maccabeats.

Kinderlach, Haman Harasha

In honor of Purim, I am endeavoring to post Purim related videos, whether they're Purim Shpiels or real music videos. Let's make this a fun month!

We'll kick it off with a brand new video, hot off the presses: Kinderlach, "Haman Harasha"

Levi's Legacy by Sholom Jacobs

I heard about this clip this morning on the Nachum Segal show. It was written in memory of Levi Wolowik, a 9 year old boy who passed away suddenly last year. Performed by Sholom Jacobs. It's sweet and uplifting. May Levi's neshama have an aliyah and may be a meilitz yosher for klal yisroel.

ENJOY!!!

Thruway by Yoely Lebowitz

Since yesterday's clip was a sad one, let's return to lighthearted today once again.

Here is Yoely Lebowitz's second humorous music video. It's in all Yiddish, so lots of you won't understand it. But trust me, it's absolutely hysterical. Meanwhile enjoy the visual of a chasidishe yungerman with a hoicheh beeber hit in overalls singing the first ever Yiddish country song.

The Copyright Project

Here's something sweet and lighthearted and fun. It's a virtual who's who of the current Jewish music scene. Identifying the faces based on their voices was a lot of fun. And the message is really true...

ENJOY.

You're Watching Me by Michoel Pruzansky

This is a story that was widely circulated after 9/11/01. No one was ever able to verify if this story actually happened, but the song is beautiful and so is the video. Enjoy.

It's Shabbos Now by 8th Day

Here's a simple, nice, feel good song about Shabbos, brought to you by 8th Day. Oh, to have such a stunning big house....

Six 13 Chanukah

Until now I focused on mostly chasidishe and heimishe videos. How about something slightly different? Say, from more "modern" circles? I have all kinds of readers on this blog (or so I'm hoping) and I think that anyone can enjoy this.

Six13 is an Acapella group that goes years back. They came out with this really hysterical Chanukah song and I really like it. I didn't get all of the parodies of the secular singers but I did catch some of them and i'm telling you, I really laughed. I know Chanukah is over a while ago already - but this is still a really funny video and guaranteed to bring out a few chuckles.

ENJOY.

Lipa "Gam Zu Ltova" before he became... well, Lipa

Remember there was once a time when Lipa was still... 'normal'? He was wholesome, Chasidish, innocent, heartzig, and his songs were good. There are very few music videos of him from back then. (In my opinion it's the music videos that transformed him into the 'image' he is today, but I digress). I dug and I dug and i unearthed this treasure. It's the old, Skverrer, pre-'Shtick', Chasidish Lipa, singing his authentic songs with pizzazz. Here's "Gam Zu Ltova", one of my favorite Lipa songs.

Michoel Pruzansky "Taseh Mitzvah"

This video is about 5 years old, but it's really cute. There's a cameo by "Reb Fred" of the Al Gordon show fame - I'll bet you NONE of you know what I'm talking about :). Anyway, it's a lighthearted, Purim-y kind of clip - enjoy.

Shimmy Engel sings 'Aleh Katan' in Yiddish

It is rare to find a Youtube video in Yiddish. Those few finds are rare gems. Here is one of them: Shimmy Engel (who recently got married) singing Aleh Katan in Yiddish. The lyrics are moving and Shimmy Engel has a beautiful voice. Yishai Lapidot participates as well with his Hebrew version.

ENJOY!

The Unity Project

This is also about 2 years old; it's the video showing the recording of the Unity song that was produced by virtually every singer in the Jewish music velt to support Sholom Rubashkin. It's such a treat to see the faces behind all these well known voices. Enjoy.

Father Don't Cry by Avraham Fried

This video is not so new, but it's beautiful. And this song happens to be singing at www.jewishmusicstream.com at the moment so I thought it would be a good video to post today.

Yoely Lebowitz "My Yellow Bus"

This video is about four years old. But chances are you haven't seen it yet. This video is pure genius and I wish Yoely Lebowitz would make more of these. My special needs son and even my 'regular' son absolutely love this clip. It's funny, whimsical, and oh so true. Wouldn't we all love, for one day, to become little school kids once again, free of adult worries and woes? For four minutes, you can. ENJOY.

8th Day's Brand new "Give it All you Got"

8th Day, the people behind Yalili, the video I posted yesterday, just came out with a new music video, to their new song "Give it all you Got." I'm a huge 8th Day fan; i feel they fill a long overdue niche in the Jewish music world. Their lyrics are honest, refreshing, truthful, moving, and funny. I love this song in particular, so it was exciting to find a music video to this song. It is whimsical and artsy and very different from Yalili. ENJOY.

Are you ready to YALILI???

Not-so-new but a goodie; a guaranteed pick me up. There is so much genius in this song, as well as the hilariously filmed video. If you haven't seen this before - ENJOY. If you have - ENJOY AGAIN!!!
